The Perm Research Institute of Agriculture, with support from the Ministry of Agro-Industrial Complex of the Perm Territory, has been implementing a project to cultivate and use winter triticale for feed and grain since 2019. The institute has been distributing elite triticale seeds to agricultural enterprises in the region at a preferential price since 2021, with plans to supply around 600 tons in 2024. Triticale is known for its high winter hardiness, frost resistance, and stress resistance, making it suitable for growth in challenging conditions. The institute has developed two varieties of winter triticale, Tsekad 90 and Sibard, which are rich in nutrients and recommended for forage harvesting. The institute is also experimenting with winter crop sowing technologies using minimum and zero till methods, and increasing the use of organic fertilizers.
