Mato Grosso has consolidated itself as the leader in soybean production in Brazil, reaching new records in each harvest and ranking among the world's main producers of the grain. If it were a country, Mato Grosso would be third in the global ranking. An estimate by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), released this week, points to production of 44.3 million tons of soybeans in the 2022/23 harvest, the which represents about 30% of the total production in Brazil. According to the National Supply Company (Conab), the country should produce 151.4 million tons. Currently, the ranking of largest soybean producers has the United States in second position, with production estimated at 121 million tons for 2022/ 23, and Argentina in third place, with a projected production of 33.5 million tons of grain.
