Italy: With Caseificio Italia tool the bureaucracy is still increasing in the dairy sector

From 1 July 2022, the operators of the dairy sector were obliged to register and communicate to Agea, through the Sian, the handling of raw materials, semi-finished and finished products, as well as the production and economic data concerning them. The new continuous monitoring tool in the sector has been baptized with the term "Caseificio Italia" and places an additional administrative burden on companies, which is expensive and not easy to manage, with the error always lurking and the possibility that the Administration ask for the payment of penalties for non-compliant parties and, perhaps, for those who run into a simple error or typo. Only three of the four most important milk supply chains are affected: cattle, sheep and goats. The buffalo sector is therefore excluded.
