The World Bank has approved a grant of $24.58 million for the 'Vertentes' project in Brazil, aiming to make the soy and beef cattle value chains more sustainable. The project will cover around 47.2 million hectares across five states and will focus on the sustainable management of landscapes, with the goal of recovering degraded pasture and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The project is expected to benefit 10,500 direct beneficiaries, including women, and will involve both private and public sector actors. The project will also train supermarket chains on purchasing sustainable products and will promote social inclusion in rural areas.
