The World Cocoa Farmers Organization (WCFO) Ghana chapter has proposed to the Lands Commission to address land tenure issues faced by cocoa farmers, particularly in the Western North Region. The proposal aims to help farmers obtain legal documents to protect their farmland from litigation and encourage long-term investment. Due to the complex registration processes and the majority of farmers not having legal ownership documents, only 30% of cocoa farmers have secure tenancy. The Lands Commission has assured the WCFO that the proposal will be considered to simplify the registration process and provide assistance to farmers in obtaining the necessary requirements for registration and legal land documentation.
