The International Marine Ingredients Organization (IFFO) reported significant growth in global fishmeal and fish oil production, largely due to a successful anchovy fishing season in Peru. The Peruvian Marine Institute (Imarpe) is assessing anchovy biomass to set future quotas. While Peru experiences growth, other regions like Chile, Europe, the US, and China face declines in fish supplies. Peru's Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) projects a 25% growth in the fishing sector in 2024 and 7% in 2025, benefiting primary manufacturing. Additionally, a complaint has been filed against the Peruvian Minister of Health by the dean of the Medical College of Peru.
