Onion Wholesale Price in Turkey Increased by 30% MoM in March (Mar 29)
The wholesale price of onions at Turkish warehouses have risen by 30% from USD 0.37/kg at the end of February to USD 0.52/kg at the end of March. The onions in warehouses are from the previous harvest in September and October 2022, sold by the farmers to wholesalers. Thus, wholesalers control the current onion supply until the arrival of the new harvest from Adana, which is expected to enter the market in the second week of April.

During W12, Brazilian onion imports from Argentina increased. The quality of the bulbs was good, with a positive volume available. The average price was USD 9.68/sc (BRL 48.83/sc) for 20kg at the border of Porto Xavier.

Price Increased of Ripe Onions in Bulgaria (Mar 27)
In Bulgaria, from the beginning of March, ripe onions gradually reached a retail price from USD 1.33/kg (BGN 2.39/kg) to USD 1.64/kg (BGN 2.94/kg). According to the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT), the price of onions has increased by 20% in the past week, for an average of USD 1.26/kg (BGN 2.25/kg).

In Ukraine, selling prices in the onion market decreased. The downward price trend was due to the massive supply of imported onions from Egypt, the Netherlands, and Poland. Prices were also under pressure from an increased supply of onions from non-equipped storage facilities. Onions stood at USD 0.96-1.09/kg (UAH 35-40/kg), a decrease of 15% WoW.
