Farmers in Uzbekistan's Surkhandarya region have started harvesting early winter onions, but large batches are not yet available due to insufficient maturity. These onions will be available domestically in mid-April, and exports may begin around the same time. This is due to January frosts that destroyed the shoots of the August winter onion, leading to a delay in ripening time. Uzbekistan is the largest Central Asian exporter of onions, exporting over 200 thousand tons annually.
