In W27 in the chicken-egg landscape, the retail price of chicken eggs experienced minor fluctuations in Indonesia but continued to show an increasing trend following significant price increases of up to 20% recently. Retailers expect that prices will stabilize and remain at their current level in the coming months due to the persistently high production costs of poultry feed. From Jan-23 to May-23, farms in Vologda Oblast, Russia, saw a 5.7% increase in egg production, reaching a total of 280.7 million eggs. Moreover, over the past ten years, egg production in the Vologda Oblast has increased by almost 20%. This is attributed to improved poultry conditions, balanced diets, and the breeding of high-quality poultry.

In Iran, chicken eggs are currently sold at USD 0.68/kg, which is lower by 40% or USD 0.26 than the approved price set for poultry farms. The excess production and reduced consumption due to warmer weather have resulted in losses for poultry farms, amounting to USD 1.2 million daily. In Q1-23, Brazil witnessed a 2.6% growth in chicken egg production compared to the same period in 2022, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Paraná ranked second nationally with a production of 101.703 million dozens. Furthermore, Brazil experienced nearly a 5% increase in the flock of chickens dedicated to egg production for consumption, indicating positive progress during the first seven months of the year.

In the Netherlands, free-range chicken farmers are now allowed to let their chickens roam outside again as the cooping obligation has been partially abolished. However there are doubts as to whether consumers are waiting for the increase in supply of free-range eggs due to their high cost. Paraguay's egg industry has seen significant growth in recent years, despite having the lowest per capita egg consumption in the region (165 units per year). The poultry business in Paraguay faces challenges such as the health risk of highly pathogenic avian influenza, egg smuggling, and economic disparities with neighboring countries. However, the sector has made notable advancements in technological infrastructure and workforce expertise, with substantial investments exceeding USD 100 million. Paraguay relies on imports from Brazil (90%) and Argentina (10%) for pullet genetics, as it does not produce them domestically. Therefore, the current focus of egg production involves obtaining fertile eggs for incubating high-quality genetic pullets.
