The Minister of Agriculture of Castile and León, María González Corral, has announced a total of €18.7 million in aid for 9,414 farms affected by Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHE) in 2024, including €1.1 million for the last quarter and an additional €17 million already allocated. The region has also doubled its modernization budget for fattening to €6 million and will soon address the PEPAC environmental intervention to maintain native breeds. A €1.7 million call for 700 farms to incentivize animal breeding and registration has also been resolved. Salamanca was the province with the second-highest number of grants, totaling €438,000, mainly to Morucha farms. The beef cattle sector in the region is expanding, now accounting for 17.5% of national production.
