A recent study by Genesus has found that their pigs require a different diet to optimize performance, leading to significant cost savings in feed. Compared to pigs from PIC, DNA, and Topigs Norsvin, Genesus pigs require a diet that is $14.28, $7.53, and $15.74 per ton cheaper, respectively. These findings, supported by research and a collaboration with Kansas State’s Swine Nutrition team, have been published in the Genesus Feeding Guidelines. This research highlights a strategy for reducing feed costs, a crucial factor in the current high feed market, by identifying pigs with lower feed requirements and optimizing their dietary needs.
