On December 14, 19.4 tons of navel oranges from Huaihua, Hunan, China, were exported to Laos via the Mohan port, marking the first export of Hunan fruit to Laos and the first direct export from Huaihua. This shipment is expected to be the first of many agricultural exports to ASEAN countries along the China-Laos Railway, which was opened on December 3 and has significantly reduced the cost and travel time for fruit entry into Laos and Thailand. From January to November, Hunan Province saw a 6.9% increase in citrus exports, totaling 23,200 tons.
