Grain exports from Southeastern Anatolia surpassed 2.5 million tons in seven months, driven by significant pasta and sunflower oil exports, according to GAİB. The region contributed 62.9% of Turkey's pasta exports and 55.7% of sunflower oil exports by value, with sunflower oil exports reaching $294 million. Celal Kadooğlu, Chairman of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters' Association, discussed the impact of extreme heat on sunflower harvests and a presidential decree allowing a tariff quota for importing 1 million tons of oil sunflower next year. He stressed the need to include refining businesses in this regulation to prevent unfair competition and ensure fair pricing, while also noting the increasing international demand for regional brands.
