In the first quarter of the year, Düzce, a key player in Turkey's hazelnut production and export sector, successfully sold 3,986 tons of hazelnut kernels to European Union countries. According to the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, processed hazelnuts constituted the majority of these exports during January, February, and March. This period saw a continuation in the trade of the previous year's crop, which totaled 9,728 tons in exports. With the focus now shifting towards the upcoming season's preparations, the exports to the EU were notably distributed as 2,294 tons in January, 541 tons in February, and 1,151 tons in March, indicating a significant contribution to the region's economy and its pivotal role in the hazelnut industry.
