30% drop in the export of sunflower meal from Bulgaria

The Bulgarian export of sunflower meal from the beginning of the new season until now is in second place after the record of the previous year. For the first 4 months of the season, the companies exported more than 0.22 Mt of meal, which is 30% less compared to the quantities for the same period a year ago. However, exports are marking their strongest season since the record 2022/23, when cheap and strong sunflower imports from Ukraine led to remarkable domestic processing levels and corresponding meal and oil exports. Compared to the 5-year average, exports are 38% higher. China is again the biggest buyer of sunflower meal from Bulgaria. To date, it has purchased just over 0.2Mt or about 90% of all exports.
