The South Korean government is releasing up to 500 tons of pollock from its stockpiles to help stabilize rising seafood prices, particularly for the fish in question. This initiative is aimed at traditional markets and marts, with consumers able to purchase the fish at up to 30% off the market price. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will adjust the release volume as needed to accommodate demand and price fluctuations. This measure comes after a decrease in wholesale pollock prices, but continued increases in consumer prices in traditional markets and hypermarkets. The Ministry is monitoring fish product prices dependent on Russia and preparing countermeasures, including win-do discount events.
