Bolivia has seen a 1.5% loss in its agricultural sector, with 59,722 hectares affected by the La Niña phenomenon, particularly impacting quinoa and potato crops by 10.3% and 10% respectively. This could lead to supply issues and price fluctuations. The damage may extend until April, but the probability of the phenomenon decreasing by May and June. In addition to the crop damage, over 150,000 head of cattle have been affected, with 5,057 head killed. The Ministry of Rural Development is recommending preventive measures for farmers, such as relocating cattle to higher grounds and implementing pest prevention strategies. The government is also advising the cultivation of drought-tolerant crops and the improvement of irrigation systems.
