The Russian Ministry of Agriculture is planning to introduce import quotas on certain agricultural seeds from 'unfriendly foreign states' from 2024. The types of seeds include wheat, rye, barley, corn, soybeans, rapeseed, sunflower, and sugar beets. The ministry aims to reduce reliance on imported seeds and stimulate domestic seed production to ensure food security, as the country's self-sufficiency in seeds of major agricultural crops is currently 60.3%, below the target of 75% set by the Food Safety Doctrine.
