In 2023, Greece experienced the most significant decline in agricultural production within the EU, with a 16% decrease compared to 2022, largely due to weather-related damage. Despite this, the EU's agricultural production was slightly lower than in 2022, with a total value of EUR 537.1 billion at basic prices, showing a 1.5% decrease. However, 10 EU countries saw an increase in production, led by Hungary (26%) and Slovakia (12%), while other countries, including Estonia, Latvia, Spain, and Sweden, experienced decreases. The EU's agricultural production was composed of crops and livestock and animal products, contributing approximately half (51%) and 40% of the total value, respectively.
