A case of bovine brucellosis, a bacterial disease transmitted from animals to humans, has been confirmed on a dairy farm in Haute Savoie, France. The ministry of agriculture has implemented precautionary measures and is conducting investigations. All cattle in the herd will need to be slaughtered due to the disease's eradication requirements. France had been brucellosis-free since 2005, but a resurgence was observed in 2012. The public authorities will compensate the breeders for their losses.
