A commemorative plaque pays tribute to the female workers of the Alcantarilla preserve to recognize their key contribution to the economic and social development of the Region of Murcia. A recognition framed within the project `Murcia, Región de Mujeres´, promoted by the Department of Social Policy, Families and Equality, to make visible the contribution of women who have been an example in different areas. The councilor, Conchita Ruiz, along with the mayor of Alcantarilla, Paqui Terol, unveiled the plaque yesterday in an event held at the building that will house the new Museum of the Preserve, located in the facilities of the old factory La Esteva, the first canning industry in this municipality and a benchmark throughout the Region in the 19th century.
