Cumilla’s Lalmai Upazila is known for its vegetable cultivation, particularly gourds, which are supplied to other districts and profitably sold in the local market. This year, gourd prices have resulted in increased farmer income, with one farmer expecting to earn around Tk 130,000 from his gourd crop. The area's hilly terrain and low maintenance costs make gourd cultivation easier and more profitable for farmers. The vegetables are wholesaled through Nimsar Bazar, with gourds selling for Tk 50 each. The Department of Agricultural Extension in Cumilla is providing advice and support to farmers, contributing to their success in gourd cultivation.
