A good week for fresh bananas in Peru

During the last six weeks, Peruvian fresh banana exports were not on a good run, since shipments were below the previous campaign. However, last week the negative streak was broken. In week 11, Peru exported 5,467 tons, which meant 34% more than the same week last year. Despite this small recovery, the accumulated volume for the current campaign was still 2% below the previous one, with a total shipment of 50,120 tons. In this last week, the main destinations were the Netherlands (30% participation), Chile (23%) and Panama (15%). Compared to the previous week, the former tripled its acquisitions, with 1,641 tons. For their part, Chileans increased their imports by 29%, totaling 1,276 tons. As for Panama, it increased its purchases by 15%, with a total imported of 798 tons.
