A harvest of 15,300 tons of tomatoes is expected to grace the world's tables.

In Elazığ, 15,300 tons of tomatoes, harvested and dried by the labor of 600 workers over 2,000 acres, are sent to countries including the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands, adorning dining tables around the world. In the village of Alatarla, 15 kilometers from Elazığ, Mehmet Salih Kıran and Erhan Arıkboğan, who planted tomatoes on a 2,000-acre area, continue to harvest with approximately 600 workers. The tomatoes, collected with great effort by the workers, first appear in all country markets, particularly in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia. In addition to the domestic market, the collected tomatoes are split in half with the help of machines and knives, salted, and left to dry in the sun. The dried tomatoes are then exported to many countries, primarily the United States and France. With the fields barely visible, an average harvest of 315,000 tons is expected this year.
