In light of the proliferation of sheep scab outbreaks in the province of Chubut, and with the aim of preventing their spread to areas free of this veterinary disease, the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa) declared a health alert until December 31, 2026, for the departments of Gastre, Telsen, Cushamen, Languineo, Paso de Indios, Mártires, and Gaiman. The measure, arising from the work of the Provincial Animal Health Commission (COPROSA) of that province (in which producers and local authorities participate) and formalized in resolution 938/2025, establishes that all tasks of surveillance, prevention, control, and eradication of this parasitosis, caused by the mite Psoroptes ovis, must be adopted and/or strengthened.
