The National Irrigation Water Saving Program (PNEEI) in Kenitra, spearheaded by the Ministry of Agriculture, aims to modernize irrigation systems and enhance water management, benefiting 4,713 farmers across 12,440 hectares. The project involves upgrading pumping stations, irrigation networks, and water intakes, with 7,130 hectares of internal farm equipment already modernized and full completion anticipated by 2025. Key goals include saving 20-40% of irrigation water, reducing energy consumption, and boosting crop yields by 50%. Additionally, 181 km of old cement channels are being replaced with HDPE channels to minimize water leaks. The governor's visit underscored the strategic importance of this initiative for the region's agricultural future.
