The Palencia native Álvaro Salgado, a Chemical Engineering student at the University of Valladolid, has been declared the winner of the ‘400 Segundos’ challenge, organized by the College of Industrial Engineers of Madrid and Ledu. His proposal involves taking advantage of beet molasses to boost the countryside and the industrialization of Castilla y León, and thus help to curb the departure of young people from the community. In front of more than a hundred attendees and an expert jury from companies, official colleges, and communication specialists, the ten finalists, hailing from various parts of Spain and selected from over 90 candidates, offered a demonstration of oratory applied to engineering.
