A Sorrowful Harvest of Hadim Cherries in Konya

In Hadim, a district of Konya located on the Taurus Mountains and one of the latest cherry harvest centers in Türkiye, the harvest of Ziraat-900 cherry varieties has decreased by 90% due to frost in April. In the district where all produced cherries are exported to Russia and European countries, this year's harvest is a sorrowful one. In previous years, the harvest that continued for 2 months did not take place in many regions this year due to frost. In high-altitude regions, the yield dropped by around 90%. Hadim cherries, grown on 35,000 decares of land and noted for their aroma, quality, and taste, were previously exported to European countries, accounting for 90% of production. With the decline in yield, many export companies have not come to the district, and the ongoing harvest is expected to be completed soon.
