The Spanish Agency for Food Safety (AESAN) has issued an alert regarding the presence of histamine in a shipment of sardines smoked in sunflower oil of Moroccan origin, according to Spanish media reports. The same reports added that quantities of smoked sardines bearing (Batch number: L202CEB0 234 60), preferably consumed before January 21, 2023, were distributed in premium markets in the cities of Andalusia and the Castile-La Mancha provinces of Cantabria, in addition to Castile and Leon, Madrid and Valencia.
The Spanish agency added that it had already notified the local health and administrative authorities of these provinces, in order to ensure that the product in question was withdrawn from marketing channels. Currently, according to the same reports, no case has been reported regarding this alert, and it is recommended that people who purchased this product not consume it and return it to the point of sale for exchange or payment.
