Laos and Taiwan (China) are major importers of Vietnamese seafood, especially oysters, which are valued as an affordable 'miracle drug.' The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported that Vietnam's shellfish export turnover reached $63 million in the first five months of this year, with significant growth in scallops, oysters, clams, and snails. Taiwan is the largest market for Vietnamese oysters, making up 82% of exports, while exports to Laos have tripled compared to the same period last year. Vietnam's oyster farming spans about 3,000 hectares, mainly in Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces.
