Abimapi: 75% of panettone shipments to the USA are at risk of the tariff hike

The Brazilian Association of Biscuit, Pasta, Bread, and Industrialized Cake Industries (Abimapi) estimates that 75% of Brazilian panettone shipments to the United States are "at risk" due to the 50% tariff imposed on imported Brazilian products. According to Abimapi, more than half of Brazilian panettones are sent to the United States, with an average export price of US$ 4 per kilo. "The companies anticipated their shipments to this destination, however, what was sent until July only represents a quarter of the total they export on average every year. Therefore, 75% of the shipments are at risk," said the association in a statement. Brazil is the second largest supplier of panettones to the United States, behind only Italy, according to Abimapi, with a 2.3% share of the American market.
