Vegetable farmers in Phu My town are facing unprofitability due to sharp drops in selling prices and high input costs. Located in the largest vegetable growing area in the province, spanning over 1,200 hectares across Tan Hai, Chau Pha and Song Xoai communes, the town grows a variety of vegetables. However, an abundant supply and the reopening of China have led to a significant decrease in vegetable prices, causing farmers to sell at a loss. Despite these challenges, the agricultural sector of Phu My is promoting the expansion of vegetable production and urging farmers to adopt VietGAP standards. The town is also focusing on models to link farmers with cooperatives and enterprises to ensure a stable and sustainable output.
