Selling prices fell sharply, while high input costs made vegetable farmers in Phu My town almost unprofitable. As the largest vegetable growing area in the province, in the Winter-Spring crop of 2022-2023, Phu My Town cultivates more than 1,200 hectares of vegetables, mainly in Tan Hai, Chau Pha and Song Xoai communes. Some vegetables such as collard greens, broccoli, lettuce, perilla, onions, cilantro... are being purchased by traders from 4,000-5,000 VND/kg depending on the type, only half as much as at the beginning of the year. Mr. Mai Thuc Khang (Tan Hai commune) who is cultivating 5,000m2 of green vegetables, said that nearly 2 weeks ago, traders bought at the garden only 1,000-3,000 VND/kg, while the consumption of green vegetables was only 1,000-3,000 VND/kg.
