On March 28-29, 2023, strong winds from summer storms in Chanthaburi and Trat provinces of Thailand caused significant damage to agricultural areas, particularly durian orchards. The incident affected 514 farmers, damaging approximately 1,500 tons of durian with an estimated value of 220 million baht. In response, the Department of Agriculture is inspecting the damage and providing assistance to farmers. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to ensure the quality of durians in packing houses and to prevent the sale of damaged durians for export. Additionally, the affected durians are being sold at various markets for processing and human consumption, with the Department of Agriculture and related agencies providing support and advice for the recovery of storm-damaged durian trees.
