The article highlights the importance of adopting modern technologies and farming methods, along with cultivating modern varieties of sugarcane, to increase production in the region, especially in the Barind tract of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Sugar Crop Research Institute (BSRI) is playing a key role in this regard. The article was discussed at a field day meeting attended by key officials and scientists from the institute, who urged farmers to increase sugarcane cultivation to support the operations of sugar mills. The article also stresses the nutritional benefits of sugarcane and its role in economic development and mental growth in children.
