In October 2022, Vietnam saw a significant increase in the export value of durians, dragon fruits, jackfruits, and bananas, with durians reaching 49.9 million USD, a 42.2 times increase from the previous year. This surge is attributed to the strong growth in the Protocol on phytosanitary control for durians exported to China, making it the most valuable fruit export product after dragon fruit. The General Department of Customs in China has approved additional 37 codes for durian growing areas and packing facilities, allowing for increased export opportunities. The Plant Protection Department of Vietnam is advising farmers to focus on maintaining codes, improving product quality, and standardizing the production process to meet market requirements and build a strong brand.
