Vietnam is set to begin exporting fresh coconuts to China following a new protocol signed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and China's General Department of Customs. The country, which grows coconuts across 15 provinces covering 200,000 hectares, expects to export 30,000 tons of fresh coconuts and 320,000 tons of processed products in 2023. However, Deputy Minister Hoang Trung warned that any violations of the protocol will result in immediate removal of the violating units. The Ministry has outlined strict regulations for plant quarantine, food safety, and hygiene, and requires all growing areas and packaging facilities to be registered and approved by both Chinese and Vietnamese customs and agricultural departments.
