The Lipetsk region in Russia is producing a significant volume of sugar from sugar beets, with over 470,000 tons produced from the new crop so far. This production volume is expected to be sufficient to provide sugar to the region and neighboring areas, and the region is also a major contributor to the country's sugar production, ranking among the top three. The Dobrinsky Sugar Plant is storing syrup for later sugar production, and the region also produces over 48,000 tons of pulp, which is exported, and molasses, used for yeast production. The region produces 14 times more sugar than its population needs, according to health ministry recommendations. Sugar beet harvesting is ongoing, with over 4.7 million tons dug up so far.
