The 2019 Annual Foreign Trade Report from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) reveals that Spain's agri-food sector exports reached a value of 53,180 million euros, an increase of 5.2% from the previous year. Imports were 1.2% higher at 38,964 million euros, resulting in a balance of 14,215 million euros, up by 18.2%. The food and beverage industry accounted for 60% of total exports. The EU-28 was the main destination for exports, with France, Germany, and Italy as the top trading partners. There was a 12% increase in exports to third countries, with China, the United States, Japan, Switzerland, and Morocco as the main destinations.
