Starting a business from a specialty crop Coconut sap has thick, soft, and chewy flesh, and rich, oily liquid, containing a high level of nutrients. Thanks to this unique flavor, the price of coconut sap is always very high, 8-10 times higher than other types of coconuts. In August 2012, the coconut sap variety was officially recognized as one of Vietnam's 50 famous fruit specialties. On August 5, 2024, the Vietnam Coconut Association honored the coconut sap tree planted in Trà Vinh (now Vĩnh Long province) as the "Vietnamese Coconut Tree." At the same time, the Intellectual Property Agency (Ministry of Science and Technology) issued a geographical indication registration certificate for "Trà Vinh Coconut Sap," opening up a significant opportunity for brand development and economic value for this specialty crop.
