On December 22, 2022, the agricultural market saw an increase in the prices of key crops, including coffee and pepper, due to global market trends and local production challenges. Coffee prices in Vietnam ranged from 40,200 to 41,000 VND/kg, mirroring a global increase in Robusta and arabica coffee prices. The International Coffee Organization forecasts a slight decrease in global production but a significant rise in consumption for the 2022-2023 crop year. Meanwhile, pepper prices in Vietnam varied from 57,500 to 59,500 VND/kg, influenced by factors such as climate change, high costs, and market demand, particularly in the Chinese market. The Vietnam Pepper Association discussed the challenges faced by farmers, including decreasing prices, climate change, high costs, and the impact of the conflict in Eastern Europe on demand.
