As of May 29, 2022, in Vietnam, coffee prices are fluctuating between 41,300 VND/kg and 42,000 VND/kg, with a slight increase of 1,000 VND/kg last week. Meanwhile, robusta and arabica coffee prices in the world market are $2,097/ton and 229.45 US cents/lb. respectively for July 2022 delivery. Russia's coffee consumption, primarily robusta and instant coffee, is estimated to be around 6 million bags per year, but sanctions have impacted demand. In 2021, Russia imported a record 243,295 tons of coffee, mostly from Vietnam.
Pepper prices in Vietnam range from 70,000 VND/kg to 73,000 VND/kg, with a significant drop last week. The Vietnam Pepper Association stated that the recovery in domestic pepper prices in early May 2022, due to China's customs clearance, was short-lived because speculators sold out and demand in the foreign market was low. The future trend of pepper prices will depend on the purchasing demand in the Chinese market.
