In Buryatia, summer floods and droughts have led to a 1.5% decline in agricultural production from January to July 2024, equating to 9.3 billion rubles. A state of emergency was declared in several districts due to these natural disasters, which damaged household plots and resulted in the loss of 2.6 thousand hectares of crops. The annual gross agricultural output is projected to decrease by 1.1%, reaching 24.6 billion rubles. To mitigate the impact, efforts are underway to expand agricultural areas, provide state support to farmers, and utilize new lands for agriculture. The disasters also caused significant infrastructure damage, affecting roads and bridges.
