On December 3, negotiators from the European Union (EU) and the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OEACP) - the new name for the former ACP Group of States - agreed, after three years of debate, on a new partnership agreement which will succeed the Cotonou agreement. The agreement, which remains to be ratified, covers a large number of areas ranging from sustainable development and growth to human rights, peace and security, with emphasis on regional priorities.
