An audit by Seapdr and state agricultural inspector Liese Vargas in Vacaria, Brazil, ensured compliance with phytosanitary requirements for fruit exports. The audit focused on monitoring fruit flies, specific species being a threat to fruit production, as they develop inside the fruits. Orchards in Vacaria were declared suitable for export, in alignment with the requirements for exporting to Colombia. Brazilian Association of Producers Exporters of Fruits and Derivatives (Abrafrutas) data reveals that Rio Grande do Sul contributed significantly to the volume and value of Brazilian apple exports in 2021, with the main export destinations being India, Bangladesh, and Russia.
