The Ministry of Agriculture in Egypt intends to design 2,500 facilities to export pomegranates this year

The Ministry of Agriculture is preparing to begin procedures for coding pomegranate farms in Lower and Lower Egypt, for a period of one month, starting next June. The coding mechanism allows reverse tracking of shipments to global markets, through a code assigned to each establishment or farm to control violations, and is carried out by the “Agricultural Quarantine” Department, representing the Ministry. Sources told Al-Mal that the number of pomegranate farms expected to be developed reaches about 2,500 facilities, including production, collection, packing and sorting points. She pointed out that pomegranate exports recorded 8,500 tons at the end of last year, compared to 6,500 in 2022, and is expected to reach 20,000 tons by the end of 2024.
