The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation in Egypt is starting the harvest of its Basmati rice cultivation experiment in the village of Borik El-Hagar, Tanta Center, Gharbia Governorate, at 11:00 am on October 13. This is a new initiative to grow Basmati rice in Egypt. The Ministry is also implementing the rice straw system and addressing air pollution challenges for the 2024 season. The total area planted with rice crops is 1.1 million acres, including 724 thousand acres for flood irrigation, 200 thousand acres of water-saving rice strains, and 150 thousand acres planted on water with high salinity.
