The National Agency for Agricultural Health (Senamhi) has released the agroclimatic risk forecast for potato cultivation from September to November 2024. The forecast predicts above-normal daytime temperatures and lower nighttime temperatures in different regions, with varying rainfall conditions. The report cautions that while these thermal conditions could be favorable for potato growth, they could also increase the risk of phytosanitary diseases due to high humidity. The forecast also anticipates higher risks for potato fields in emergency and growth due to scarce rainfall and warmer nights in September, but by October, the normalization of rainfall is expected to reduce risks. However, by November, risks are projected to increase again due to rains and lower night temperatures, causing water stress.
