Agropecuária Maragogipe, in Itaquiraí, Mato Grosso do Sul, is one of the most productive farms in Brazil and a model of intensive livestock farming with sustainability. The property's successful strategy is based on rigorous forage and nutritional planning, which uses integration, fertilization, and a high stocking rate to guarantee productivity in a closed-cycle system. In an interview with Giro do Boi, zootechnician Lucas Marques, operations director of Maragogipe, explains that forage planning is the basis of the farm's annual budget. Based on it, the number of animal units (AU) per hectare that the pasture can support is defined, an indicator that guides all financial and operational decisions for the year.
