The fate of a cargo of nearly 3,000 cows that have been living on a ship at sea for two months is being decided in these hours. This is a shipment that Uruguay sent to Turkey, valued at 5 million dollars, which departed on September 19 and has been stranded in the port of Bandirma since October 21. Turkish authorities are not allowing the cows to disembark due to a lack of necessary documentation and sanitary irregularities, an argument with which Uruguayan officials disagree, stating that the conflict is due to a "commercial dispute between private operators." This was reported by the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) of the neighboring country after the meeting it held last Friday with its Turkish counterparts.
