As a leader in the refrigeration industry, Daniel Urcía serves in the Institute for the Promotion of Argentine Beef (IPCVA), where he is in charge of the Internal Promotion Department, dedicated to spreading the benefits of beef in the local market.
For several months now, the Chamber of Slaughterhouses has been questioning the actions of this Institute, both for internal and external promotion, and they are demanding that the contribution made for its operation – which comes from a payment per animal intended for slaughter – should not be mandatory but voluntary.
On these criticisms, Urcía told Bichos de Campo: "We developed the beef fan contest together with them (the slaughterhouses) and the truth is that when it comes to talking about money, there is little to discuss. They do not want to pay because it represents a cost, even though they do not do it directly. But it does not represent even 30 cents on the selling price to the public of a kilo of beef."
